Description
Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be able to visit the most important places that this magical city full of history and energy has to offer. Next, you will visit Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world. The accommodations are carefully selected to make your stay memorable.
- Day 1: City Tour. We will pick you up from your accommodation at 1:30 p.m. to transfer you to our tourist vehicle. Then we will begin the City Tour, visit the Koricancha (Temple of the Sun) temple and then begin a tour of archaeological centers such as the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, a majestic place with impressive stonework, some weighing up to 120 tons. Q'enqo (Labyrinth), a religious center dedicated to the worship of the Earth. Puca Pucara (reddish place) which was used as a military control center, and a mandatory stop for all travelers since Inca times. Tambomachay (Temple of Water) is a center of worship and cult of water. The tour will end at approximately 6:30 pm in the main square of Cusco.
- Day 2:Sacred Valley of the Incas + Buffet. We will pick you up from your respective hotel / accommodation to begin the trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas on a tourist bus. On the tour you will appreciate the mountains to the Sacred Valley, we will descend 2800 meters above sea level to the bottom of the valley of the sacred Urubamba river. Our first stop will be the town of Pisac where we will visit a traditional market and you can buy some local souvenirs. Next, we will head to the extensive ruins of Pisac, which has impressive views of the valley. On the guided walk to the Citadel of Pisac you will be able to appreciate temples, residences, altars, canals, carvings, tunnels, grottos and the famous Inti Huatana “The Pillory of the Sun”. In case you prefer to have more time at the market instead of visiting the ruins, inform your guide so that he/she can coordinate a time and place to pick you up when you return by the market. We continue to Urubamba where we stop to enjoy a buffet lunch, then we will head to Ollantaytambo, a fortress surrounded by sacred mountains. Here you will rediscover the magnificence of the Inca constructions, the incredible temple of the sun, huge blocks of stone perfectly carved and polished, stone water fountains, stairs, terraces and the beauty of the local population with their typical costumes, all surrounded by the sacred mountains and the valley of Patacancha and Willoq. On our return, we will quickly visit the famous church and archaeological site of Chincheros. We will be arriving in Cusco at 7:30 p.m.
- Day 3: Machu Picchu. The day starts early, first we go to the town of Ollantaytambo, where you will board a first class train to Aguas Calientes; the trip will take 1 hour and 45 minutes. Once in Aguas Calientes our staff will greet you and guide you to the bus station, from here you will make the one-way trip to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Once there, we will begin the visit observing the great landscape that surrounds this wonder, you will observe the beauty of its Temples, shrines, enclosures and stairs that connect it, the different plans of this wonder, you will listen to the story about the Incas who built the buildings. Machu Picchu is in itself an exaltation of stone, the visit time on a guided tour is 2 hours and 30 minutes, at the end of the guided tour you will have time to take photos and visit the places you liked the most. Next, we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can have lunch and do your shopping. Finally, we will return to the town of Ollantaytambo on a first class train, there a private vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to the city of Cusco.
- Day 4: Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. We will pick you up from your accommodation to begin the trip to the town of Cusipata, the trip will take 2 hours and 30 minutes. We suggest you rest on the trip and save energy for the hike.
- Day 5: Humantay Lagoon. After picking you up from your hotel, we will board our tourist mobility towards the town of Mollepata during the trip you will appreciate the lush Apurímac River Valley. Once in the small and picturesque town of Mollepata we will have breakfast, then we will continue our trip until we reach the starting point of the walk, the town of Soraypampa, this is located at an altitude of 3,900 m above sea level. After a short rest, we will begin our trip towards Humantay Lagoon which is located at an altitude of 4,180 m above sea level. or 13,779 feet, after approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes of ascent we will be able to appreciate the wonderful landscape. We will enjoy our guide's explanation and take souvenir photos. We will have some time to enjoy the place and then return to our camp to enjoy our lunch along with beautiful panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. Afterwards, we will be transferred to the city of Cusco.
As the day gets brighter you will be able to observe a typical Andean landscape. We will have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. in the town of Tintinco, a community belonging to Cusipata, after the trip we will continue for 1 more hour until we reach the town of Fulawasi Pata from where we will begin a walk of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Before you start hiking, your guide will give you very important information and tips about the hike. Then you will begin the ascent to the Mountain of Colors, you can advance at your own pace and observe in detail the diversity of flora in the Andes; as well as open your arms and breathe the clean air of the Andes. If you wish, you will have the option of renting a horse for your best comfort. Along the trail, you will appreciate some amazing landscapes of the Red Valley such as streams and narrow paths, as well as herds of thousands of alpacas and llamas that are herded and cared for by the locals.
We will arrive at Vinicunca Mountain around 12:30 p.m. There a guided tour will begin and then you will have time to take pictures, the return will be by the same route to the town of Fulamwasi Pata where we will take a van back to the town of Tintinco. Here you will enjoy a buffet lunch. Finally we will return to Cusco where we will be arriving at 5:30 p.m.
