On the guided walk to Pisac you will be able to see temples, residences, altars, canals, carvings, tunnels, caves and the famous Inti Huatana “The Pillory of the Sun”. If you prefer to have more time in the market instead of visiting the archaeological complex, inform your guide so that he can coordinate the time and place to pick you up when you return by the market. We continue to Urubamba where we stop to enjoy a buffet lunch, then we will head to Ollantaytambo, a fortress surrounded by sacred mountains. Here you will rediscover the magnificence of the Inca constructions, the incredible temple of the sun, huge blocks of stone perfectly carved and polished, stone water fountains, stairs, terraces and the beauty of the local population with their typical costumes, all surrounded by the sacred mountains and the valley of Patacancha and Willoq. Machu Picchu is in itself an exaltation of stone, the visit time on a guided tour is 2 hours and 30 minutes, at the end of the guided tour you will have time to take photos and visit the places you liked the most. Next, we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can have lunch and do your shopping. Finally, we will return to the town of Ollantaytambo on a first class train, there a private vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to the city of Cusco.
  • Day 4: Salineras de Maras y Moray. The tour to the Salineras de Maras y Moray is for those travelers who love to explore and live unique adventures.
  • We will leave Cusco around 8:00 am. The first stop will be the house of the weavers association in Chinchero. Here, local weavers will show you the most exquisite fabrics from all over South America. Next, you will go to the ancient and important Inca agricultural testing station of Moray. Here, the Incas built large circular terraces where the temperature varied according to the altitude. As you descend the terraces, the temperature increases. The Incas had an extraordinary knowledge of climates and microclimates. Plants from all over their empire were transported here so that they could be adapted, allowing them to grow at different altitudes.

After finishing our visit to Moray, we will visit the traditional village of Maras. The houses here display different coats of arms belonging to the Inca nobles, who lived here during the Inca and colonial times. Today Maras is a very traditional village.

Finally, we will visit the Salinas de Maras. This photo-perfect spot consists of over 5,000 small pits where locals collect their salt. Some of these pits are very old, and it is no surprise to learn that the Incas mined salt from this site and this practice continued during the reign of the Spanish viceroys. These days, local people let the salt water flow into the depressions they have dug. The sun then evaporates the water, leaving a salt residue which is then collected and sold at the local market. You will finish the Maras and Moray Tour by returning to Cusco in the afternoon arriving at 03:00 p.m.

Day 5: South Valley. After picking you up from your respective accommodation we will head south of the city of Cusco to see one of the great wonders of Inca hydraulic engineering, Tipón. Located in the district of Oropesa, province of Quispicanchis, this amazing construction has been recognized as a marvel of civil engineering, thanks to its respect for nature and the technology used to mobilize water from different springs. It is admired by engineers, architects and visitors from all over the world, the surrounding countryside is also very picturesque.

After Tipón we will continue our exploration trip and our next stop will be Piquillaqta, this site was once a cult seat and administrative center of the great Pre-Incan Wari culture. The Wari Empire prospered from the 6th to the 9th century A.D. Piquillaqta is a good example of their planned urban engineering.

Finally we will return to the city of Cusco, where we will arrive at 3:00 p.m.
